Singer Kim Ho-joong gave up his appeal after being sentenced to prison for a drunk driving hit-and-run, and his sentence of two and a half years in prison was finalized.

Kim Ho-joong, who has been agonizing over whether to appeal or not, finally decided to give up and informed his acquaintances and fan cafe on the 15th. After the appeal trial, he reportedly received advice from large law firms and reviewed legal action, but eventually decided to accept the sentence.

The fan club also said on the 15th that "Kim Ho-joong decided to give up his appeal after a long and deep thought" "We must respect that judgment. I will keep my balance and prepare for Kim Ho-joong's return together" he said.




Earlier in April, Kim Ho-joong was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, the same as the first trial, at an appeal trial held at the Seoul High Court. The court ruled that "the amount of alcohol was considerable, and the accident occurred in a state of poor judgment" and "the nature of the crime is poor, such as turning the manager in instead after the accident.""

In addition to Kim Ho-joong, officials from the agency were put on trial as accomplices. Lee Kwang-deuk, CEO of Thought Entertainment, was sentenced to two years in prison, Jeon to one and a half years in prison, and Jang, the manager of the company who gave false embroidery, was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation, respectively.

In May 2023, Kim Ho-joong was accused of driving a vehicle drunk in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and running away after causing a contact accident with a taxi on the other side. Immediately after the accident, the manager turned himself in instead of him, and it was also revealed that he drank additionally to avoid a breathalyzer test.
