SBS said on the 18th that the Ministry of Employment and Labor conducted a special labor supervision on MBC in connection with Oyoanna's alleged bullying in the workplace. "There was an act that could be considered bullying."We have reached a conclusion," the report said.
According to SBS, the Ministry of Employment and Labor concluded that weathercasters cannot be regarded as workers under the Labor Standards Act. This is because weather forecasters can work in several places without being exclusive to a single broadcaster, and there have been cases where they belong to a management company.
Usually, the Ministry of Employment and Labor does not judge whether they are bullied if they classify them as not workers. Nevertheless, in consideration of the great social interest in the Oyoanna case, there was an unusual act that could be seen as bullying" is said to have made a judgment.
The late Oyoanna died in September last year at the age of 28. Three months later, after the death of the deceased was announced, a suicide note was found on January 27 in which Oyoanna complained that she had been bullied at work by two specific weathermen.
The bereaved families revealed that `the real demons are Lee Hyun-seung and Kim Ga-young' and that `Park Ha-myung and Choi A-ri were openly bullied, but Lee Hyun-seung and Kim Ga-young were secretly harassed from behind.'
In the end, the Ministry of Employment and Labor instructed MBC to investigate the case in accordance with the Labor Standards Act, and MBC formed a fact-finding committee.
