According to the Mapo Police Station in Seoul, composer A sued four people, including G-Dragon, Yang Hyun-suk, YG CEO Yang Min-sheng, and YG Plus B CEO, on charges of violating the copyright law in November last year. Mr. A claimed that G-Dragon and Yang Hyun-suk reproduced 'G-Dragon', which he registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association on January 1, 2001, without permission, changed the song name, and produced and distributed it in April 2009. The album was re-released in 2010 under the title "Shine a Light", and the song in question was included under the title "13. My age + Storm + Cool Gentleman + G-Dragon". Mr. A claims that he participated in G-Dragon, who was 13 years old, and even composed his official debut song, but YG copied the song without permission and changed the name of the song.
The police investigated some of the people involved in the case and conducted two raids on YG headquarters and the Korea Music Copyright Association.
In this regard, YG explained that `In preparation for G-Dragon's solo performance in 2009, the two songs with the same title were confused, but there was no unauthorized reproduction of the sound source.'
