Kim Ho-joong, a drunk hit-and-run, came out of Seoul Detention Center and a private prison...Are you ready for parole

Singer Kim Ho-joong, who was sentenced to prison for drunk hit-and-run, has been transferred to Korea's only private prison.

Kim Ho-joong entered the Somang Prison in Buknae-myeon, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 18th. Somang Prison is the only private prison in Korea operated by Agape, a foundation, in the spirit of Christianity, and specializes in prisoner education programs. In this place, prisoners can be admitted except for men who are sentenced to less than seven years in prison and have more than one year in prison, two convictions or less, and drug, public security and organized violence offenders, and the Ministry of Justice selects prisoners.

Kim Ho-joong is a Christian and was admitted to Somang Prison at the suggestion of people around him. This is institutional consideration for the purpose of correction and edification.

In May last year, Kim Ho-joong is accused of violating the central line while driving drunk in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hitting a taxi on the other side, running away, and having his manager turn himself in instead. Kim Ho-joong was indicted on charges of violating the law on aggravated punishment for certain crimes (hazardous driving injuries). However, dozens of hours after the incident, the drunk driving charge was not applied because it became impossible to measure alcohol consumption by attending the police and applying the Weedmark formula.

The first and second trials sentenced Kim Ho-joong to two and a half years in prison. Kim Ho-joong appealed against the ruling, but his sentence was confirmed when he gave up his appeal in May. The scheduled release date for Kim Ho-joong is November 2026. However, parole is also possible when more than 1/3 of the sentence is completed.
