Singer Kim Ho-joong has entered the Somang Prison, a private prison related to Christianity.

According to a media outlet on the 19th, Kim Ho-joong left the Seoul Detention Center, where he was imprisoned the previous day, and entered the Somang Prison located in Buknae-myeon, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Somang Prison is the first and only private prison in Korea. It is a special correctional facility operated by Agape, a foundation, and is said to carry out edification activities based on Christian faith. In this case, a man who is sentenced to seven years or less in prison and has a remaining sentence of one year or more, and a prisoner excluding drug, public safety and organized violence offenders can be admitted according to the Ministry of Justice's selection if desired. Kim Ho-joong is known to have proposed admission to the Somang Prison in consideration of the circumstances, as his original religion is Christian.

Meanwhile, Kim Ho-joong was put on trial at around 11:40 p.m. on May 9 last year on charges of leaving the scene without any action after colliding with an oncoming taxi on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Three hours after the accident, the manager attended the police on behalf of Kim Ho-joong wearing the clothes he was wearing at the time of the accident, but the police investigation found that the driver was Kim Ho-joong. Kim Ho-joong, who denied drunk driving immediately after the accident, belatedly admitted to the crime 10 days after the accident. Kim Ho-joong was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in both the first and second trials. Since then, he appealed against the ruling, and in May, he expressed his intention to give up his appeal and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
