The theater company Toenmaru announced on the 5th that it will perform the play 'Tank named Desire' at the Dal Oreum Theater of the National Theater on October 9 and 10." The Chariot named Desire was released in 1947 and earned Williams the New York Top Critic's Association Award and the Pulitzer Prize, putting him in the ranks of mainstream American playwrights. It was also made into a film, with Vivian Lee as Blanche and Maron Brando as Stanley winning the 24th Academy Award for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Art.
Kwak Do-won plays along with Song Sun-mi and Han Ha-gam, who play Blanche, the victim of desire, through 'Tank named Desire'. Kwak Do-won's role is Stanley, the incarnation of desire. In addition, Oh Jeong-yeon and Bae Ki-sung will work together playing Stella and Mitch in the 「Tank named Desire」.
Kwak Do-won was booked for drunk driving in September 2022 and suspended his entertainment activities. In June 2023, the Jeju District Court issued a summary order of 10 million won to Kwak Do-won, who was summarily indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (Drunk Driving). Kwak Do-won has not been able to return to the entertainment industry since then, but through this play, he will return as an actor in three years.
The movie 'Firefighter', which starred Kwak Do-won as the main character, was successfully released last year. However, he could not participate in promotional schedules such as production briefing sessions, press previews, and interviews. In addition, head coach Kwak Kyung-taek should take greater responsibility for Kwak Do-won. He also criticized, saying, "I hate you and resent you."
