Director Kim Tae-joon said at a production briefing for the Netflix film 『84 square meters" held at Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 14th, `I wanted to project the hardships of young people through the Woosung character played by Kang Ha-neul.'
'84 square meters', which will be released on the 18th, is an unpredictable thriller that occurs when Young Kla-jok Woo-sung, who succeeded in buying his house with an 84-square-meter apartment, suffers from unknown inter-floor noise, and director Kim Tae-joon of the movie 'I just dropped my smartphone' took the megaphone.
Director Kim came back with a realistic thriller following his initial work 'I just dropped my smartphone'. He said "A lot of people are suffering from noise between floors. 80% of Korea's houses are apartment houses, and apartments account for more than 80% of them, so they are in an environment that is bound to experience noise between floors"I thought the material of inter-floor noise was highly sympathetic and timely. I thought it would be an interesting story to deal with various materials about noise between floors"and expressed his intention to direct.
He also talked about the reason for casting Kang Ha-neul as the main character Woo Sung. Director Kim said, `I wanted to give a feeling like a self-portrait of young people in this era. I wanted to project the hardships of young people living in the present age into a character called Woosung""As the situation Woo-sung faced in the movie was so harsh, I was worried that it would only be darkened." But if Kang Ha-neul's bright and positive image was applied, I thought I would become a character that I could cheer for without just being dark", he explained.
