Director Kim Sang-ho introduced "It tells the story of the youth who lived in that era, centering on the bus guide in the 1980s"I hope it will be a memory for those who experienced the time and a new resonance for the first generation." Then "Evidence and props are important, but in the end, I wanted to tell a person's story. I put more effort into making my character attractive," he added.
In the play, Kim Da-mi plays Ko Young-rye, a bus guide who dreams of entering college, and Shin In-eun plays Seo Jong-hee, a new guide who has a confident ambition for Miss Korea. The first love narrative, which intertwines them with Heo Nam-joon, who plays Han Jae-pil, the son of the department store president, forms the main axis of the work.
Director Kim Sang-ho first explained the reasons for the casting of the three actors. He said "Young people in the 1980s had much more mature visuals than they are now. Starting with the role of a 20-year-old wearing a school uniform, I found actors who could show the flow of maturity over time."Kim Dami brought the funeral to life with her honest and sincere acting, while Shin Ye-eun had an instinctive quickness. Heo Nam-joon played a role as a mood maker with his stable performance," he praised.
The main cast said they made extraordinary efforts to express the emotions of the 1980s, which they had never actually lived in.
Kim Da-mi said, `We talked a lot about the feelings of our first love at that time with the writer. I tried to express the great feeling of love in that era." Shin said she focused on external styling and wanted to be seen as a standout character, slightly different from her dormitory friends. He tried to differentiate himself with his long straight hair and chic charm, as well as trends at the time, such as jean jackets and bell-bottom pants."
Heo Nam-jun was surprised by saying that he asked his father for advice to understand the sentiment of the times. He said "There were some explanations from the director or the writer, but = I was curious about the feelings that people living at that time felt. That's why I asked my father a lot." As for the part that paid attention to the visuals of the character called 'Prince on a White Horse', he was a son of a rich family on the outside, but he had a lot of wounds inside, so he deliberately tried to hide his vulnerability by acting more like a child. I was grateful for the experience of wearing school uniforms," he said.
Thoughts on the scenery of the 1980s experienced at the filming site were also conveyed. Kim Da-mi said "The romance of expressing my heart with a piece of paper was fresh" and Shin Hye-eun recalled "Jong-hee in the play blew a lot of bubble gum, and small props such as bubble gum wrappers were surprisingly interesting" Heo Nam-jun said "It was new filming because elements such as bus information and paper tokens were actually implemented."
The chemistry between the two actresses is another highlight. "Neither of us are extroverted, but we became closer and closer as characters," said Kim Dami. Yeeun is so passionate about acting that she learned a lot" he complimented. In response, Shin Hye-eun "Dami's calmness and warm smile helped her to play Jong-hee. When I face my sister and act, I feel more emotions than I thought I would."
Director Kim Sang-ho, who was the last director, expressed feelings of youth that can be sympathized with beyond the times and generations. Please pay attention to the actors' passionate performance."
Meanwhile '100 Memories' will premiere at 10:40 p.m. on the 13th.
