JTBC’s ‘One Meal Show’ Ends After 8 Episodes Amid Slump in Ratings
JTBC's entertainment show 「One Meal Show」 ended in eight episodes. Despite the two-top MCs Kim Hee-sun and Tak Jae-hoon, viewers responded coldly.

JTBC recently announced that "One Meal Show" will not return this year after being rearranged after the 8th episode." However, the term 'refund' is overshadowed when looking at the ratings trend. The first broadcast started at 3.1% (based on Nielsen Korea's nationwide paid households), but then plunged to 2% and fell to 1.9% in the fourth episode. There was no rebound even though the day of the week was changed.

'Let's Eat Together' is a spin-off of 'Let's Eat Together' aired from 2016 to 2020. This time, instead of 'being asked to eat one meal', the plan was changed to 'being served one meal', but it was pointed out that the plan itself was out of line with the trend of the times. The closed residential culture, the burden of letting strangers into the house, and the selection of neighborhoods such as Seongbuk-dong, Hannam-dong, and Samseong-dong 'rich village' gave viewers a sense of incompatibility rather than empathy.

In the end, even entertainment cheat keys such as Kim Hee-sun and Tak Jae-hoon failed to save the program. The two MCs' talk and affinity did their part, but the frame itself was not enough to support the old format. This is evidenced by the scene where they admitted their failure during the broadcast, saying "This is a little embarrassing", "Shouldn't they step down?"

Viewers are already quickly turning a blind eye to outdated entertainment grammar. Nevertheless, if 'One Meal Show' returns only as a simple 'Refinance', there is a high possibility that it will be turned away again. A warning light was turned on that it could tarnish even the glory of the past, rather than continuing the reputation of 'Let's eat a meal' without a drastic change in planning.
